Rod comes from lived experience, not party politics.

 

He is a long‑time Eyre Peninsula local, a father, a husband, and a three‑time small business owner

with deep roots in the tourism industry.

His life has been shaped by the realities of regional living - hard work, community spirit,

and the determination to build something meaningful for his family and his town.

​

Rod doesn’t arrive with party promises or a pre‑set agenda.  What he brings is lived experience.  

He has seen firsthand how systemic failures and top‑down decisions made in distant offices can impact

real people.  He understands the frustration that comes when policies are created without consultation,

without conversation, and without any understanding of how they affect

the communities they’re meant to serve.

Rod is standing as an independent to listen, to understand, and to represent the issues that genuinely affect the people of Flinders.  He is committed to challenging top‑down decision‑making, pushing for fair and meaningful consultation, and ensuring that regional communities have the voice they deserve.

With experience across aquaculture, trade, and environmental industries, and supported by his social‑worker wife, Rod has a grounded understanding of the social challenges facing the region, from service accessibility to workforce shortages.  

 

He is a strong advocate for fairness, accountability, and transparency, and as an independent, he answers only to the people of his electorate.
